Amen! With the first four months of 2014 in our rear-view mirror, I believe it is important that we remember and share with you about the goodness that the Lord has shown us during these first four months of Foundations Creation Club. After reading the review below, I think you will understand why I quoted from Psalm 139 in the intro.
January with ICR's Frank Sherwin
In January, the Lord gave us the special privilege of having Mr. Frank Sherwin, Science Writer, Senior Lecturer, and Research Associate at the Institute for Creation Research in Dallas, Texas, come and give a talk on God's design in the animal kingdom. In approaching the new year, we had no speakers scheduled, but we knew that if the Lord willed for Foundations Creation Club to go on, He would provide for it. After calling ICR to ask if we could have Mr. Sherwin come for our January club event, I discovered that Mr. Sherwin was available to come at that very time and speak for us! The Lord provided a speaker, and we were amazed by the attendance He brought: 120 people, our largest reach so far! Praise God!
Among the animals Mr. Sherwin described, I think we were blown "out of the water" most by the witty octopus, who has been caught using its long, suction-cupped appendages to turn valves within aquarium tanks, causing flooding. Mr. Sherwin also shared about a case in which an octopus, after being offered a bad shrimp by its keeper, disposed of it by shoving it down the drain, all while maintaining eye contact with its keeper.
February with Pat Roy, co-author of Jonathan Park
In response to the many claims raised by Bill Nye during his recent debate with Ken Ham, Mr. Pat Roy of the Jonathan Park audio adventure series (and former colleague of Mr. Ham) came to give a presentation refuting Mr. Nye's claims regarding creation science. Before giving this presentation at Foundations Creation Club, the Roy family (and the whole Jonathan Park team) experienced a major victory from the Lord, in the provision of all of the funds necessary to purchase and keep Jonathan Park alive after the recent closure of Vision Forum Ministries. We were blessed to be able to share in their joy and excitement, and to learn firsthand about the plans the Roy family has for the Jonathan Park adventures. The Lord's providing care was also evidenced by the presence of one of the men who was in attendance at that meeting...
March with Christian author Dr. Dan Biddle
I had said during the closing announcements of our February meeting that we were in need of a speaker for the March meeting, and that I wanted the topic to be on Noah's Ark and Flood (the Lord had providentially planned for that meeting to be on the same night as the debut of Russell Crowe's Noah film), however, I wasn't anticipating that the Lord's solution to that need would be in the audience that night. I was already planning to give a talk myself, one that would include information on plate tectonics, flood geology, and answers to questions about the Ark.
April with Bruce Wood from Shasta Bible College & Graduate School
One of the biggest needs in the Church is for Christian colleges to take a stand on six-days, a recent creation, the historical Adam and Eve, and the Global Flood, against the onslaught of liberalism that is creeping into evangelical schools and colleges. Shasta Bible College & Graduate School is one such college that does take a stand, and we have been blessed with the opportunity to provide a platform for two of its faculty within the last year, Mr. Tom Meyer and Mr. Bruce Wood. For our latest meeting, Mr. Wood returned to give us an illustrated, in-depth presentation on distant starlight, highlighting Dr. Russell Humphrey's fascinating theory which offers a possible explanation for how light from distant stars could reach planet earth on Day 4 of creation week, instead of billions of years later. Mr. Wood then gave a foundational message on why God could not have used any form of evolution (including old-earth theories) as His means of creating.
I pray that you have been blessed by the above description of our ministries events, and that you will consider partnering with the ministry of Foundations Creation Club by praying for us, or by requesting a creation seminar for your church, youth group, Bible study, or other gathering. You can find our more about how you can help at our What You Can Do page.
